"A growth mindset says 'I can learn with effort,' while a fixed mindset whispers 'I was born this way.' Your choice decides your path."
Everyone has different forms of success. Some get it early, and some don’t need to do so much hard work. Just like success, everyone has different mindsets. Here, we have written about the two most controversial types of mindsets: the growth mindset and the fixed mindset.
What is Growth Mindset?
"Your potential grows each time you choose effort over excuse."
The mindset where people believe that they can grow by hard work, determination, dedication, passion, etc. Brains and talent are just the starting point of success. Having a good mindset is important because it will strengthen your discipline, passion, determination, and dedication.
Dr. Carol Dweck, a psychologist at Stanford University, popularized the concept of the “growth mindset”. Throughout her research, she found out that the people who tend to believe in their abilities through constant effort, dedication, and determination do better in life than people who believe in their fixed abilities.
For example, as a student, you get a low grade on your math test. A student with a fixed mindset might say, "I’m just bad at math, and I’ll never get better." But a student with a growth mindset, thinks, "I didn’t do well this time, but if I study differently and practice more, I can improve." Over time, because this student believes they can grow and they DO, and that’s what you have to be.
Why is a growth mindset powerful?
Having a growth mindset can help:
To change challenges into opportunities
To keep trying
To push through hard times
Increase resilience
Pushes yourself to success and so much more.
What is Fixed Mindset?
Take a scenario - You’re working in a group, and you accept you are bad at teamwork. Not a bad thing! But you know what is bad? Never trying to improve. Telling yourself “My limit is set, and I know I can’t overcome it.”
THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT A FIXED MINDSET IS!!!
What do successful people have? You’ve already guessed it! - A Growing Mindset! A mindset of growth!
Think about it -
A Negative mindset = Negative thoughts
A Positive mindset = Positive thoughts
A Growth mindset = Growing thoughts; and
A Fixed mindset = fixed thoughts, perspectives and situation
A sad person with a fixed mindset is always a sad person, an unconfident person with a fixed mindset is always an unconfident person, and likewise.
Your Next Step -
Maybe you are wondering “how can I develop my growth mindset?”, maybe even wondering “how I get rid of my fixed mindset?”

-IT STARTS FROM YOU-
